Emily Shaffer
Emily Shaffer, a native Tennessean, has fished all of her life. She grew up fishing with her family. She met her husband, Larry at a weigh-in in 1988. They started tournament fishing together and he talked her into competing in the women’s circuit. She loved it and has been fishing in them since 1992. She now is a writer, instructor, emcee and goes to schools to talk to children about fishing. She does TV shows, boat shows and radio shows all around the country.
She won her first tournament in 1995 at the Bass’n Gal Classic. She weighed in the single largest bass (9.01lb) in a Classic event, beating the 25 year history of Bassmasters Classics and 19 year history of Bass’n Gal Classics. Her second win was the first Pro/Am Bass’n Gal ever had, there were 246 anglers from 17 states. In 200 she won her third at Pickwick Lake in Alabama on the Women’s Bass Fishing Association trail. In 2002 she was the W.B.F.A Angler of the Year. In 2005 she won W.B.F.A tournament at Lake Eufaula in Alabama. She is currently fishing the Women’s Bassmaster Tour.
