Many would say Charlie Ingram is several things: a champion angler, TV show host, farmer, wildlife preservationist, entrepreneur, inventor, and a businessman. One thing is for sure, Ingram is a man of many accomplishments.
Ingram began his fishing career with a bent needle and he found in his mother's sewing basket and some string he found around the house. Wading around in Carters creek, Ingram enjoyed the outdoors and the thrill that fishing brought to his life. He would save his lunch money to buy fishing plugs and other items to feed his passion for fishing.
After he graduated from Spring Hill High School in Tennessee, he moved to attend Middle Tennessee State University where he majored in English and began fishing in small local tournaments. In time, he moved on to larger tournaments and soon was ready for fishing with the big boys on the B.A.S.S. trail. In the mid 70s, Ingram started fishing the BA.S.S. circuit and although his first tournament left him with
only one fish in 3 days, Ingram soon went on to win back-to-back tournaments; his first national tournament with a winning weight of 56.9 lb and became the first person to ever win three B.A.S.S.National events in one calendar year. Ingram's career included eight Bassmasters Classics qualifications and for FLW championships.
His passion for fishing and the outdoors lead Ingram to patent several different lures, also create "Fishing University," an instructional fishing TV show which has been airing for over 20 years, and "Hunting University", another one of Ingram's TV programs which features hunts all over the United States, Mexico, Canada, and New Zealand, offering viewers and inside look at hunting many species of animals.
Ingram has many other passions one of which is helping others. Recently he hosted a fundraiser bringing in over $36,000 for a friend who was left paralyzed after a hunting accident. Despite all of his accomplishments, Ingram is most proud of his family, all of whom have supported him and his passions over the years. His wife, Susan, son hunter, daughter in law Marion, and his daughter, Anna.
