Legend Biography

Larry Shockey of West Plains, Missouri has been a professional turkey hunting guide for over 20
years. Larry has guided numerous outdoor writers and video crews to successful hunts. His
accomplishments on the contest circuit include Tennessee State Gobbling Champion and
teaming with Don Shipp to win the World 2 Man Team Calling Championship 8 times. He has
participated in turkey calling contests for 22 yrs. and holds several calling titles including:
3x GRAND NATIONAL TWO MAN TEAM CHAMPION 1995,96,2003
1st RUNNER-UP GRAND NATIONAL TWO MAN TEAM 1999
2nd RUNNER UP GRAND NATIONAL TWO MAN TEAM 2001
1st RUNNER UP GRAND NATIONAL TWO MAN TEAM 2003
8x WORLD CALLING CHAMPIONSHIPS TWO MAN TEAM 1995,97 thru 2003,
7 of which was in a row.
2003 ARK.STATE FRICTION CHAMPION and numerous other championships.
Shockey's skill as a caller and his knowledge of all types of turkey calls is truly impressive.
Larry’s hunting seminars are very informative as his knowledge of turkeys and turkey hunting is
truly incredible. Larry is also the designer of one of the best selling diaphragm calls from Hooks
Custom Call (the Shockwave), a member of Walkers Game Ear (Sportmans Outdoor Strategies)-
SOS, Ol Tom’s Elite staff. In addition, he currently serves as the Chief Director of Kids Hunting
For A Cure which has allowed him to share his passion for the outdoors with many children. If
you spend just a few moments with Larry, his passion for the outdoors is apparent, but when he
is hunting with a child it is contagious. To Larry the definition of heaven is the look on a kids
face after he or she hears their first turkey gobble, or feeling their excitement grow and grow as
that gobbler gets closer and closer, and having to help the youngster with the tag because their
hands are shaking too bad.
