Legend Biography

Steve Coleman’s outdoor experiences started when he was around 7 years old
standing on the lake bank watching all the fisherman go out and knowing that
someday he would be the one in the boat. That was 1970. By the mid 70's he had
teamed with a long life friend (Ronnie Capps) that would take them both for a
journey of a lifetime. Commercial fishing was their start and for years to come
Reelfoot Lake, the Mississippi river, and the Tennessee River would be their
waters of choice. By the early 80's commercial diving, deer hunting, and guided
duck hunts were in full swing with great success. Around 1988 the fishing
tournament trail came to town. Steve entered the tournament with great results and
was off to his 1 st National Classic. Well, it’s been 23 years and Steve has
competed in approximately 250 tournaments, has over 50 1 st place wins in regular
tournaments, 7 National Classic wins, runner-up in as many more, and many top 5
finishes. He has attracted sponsors such as BnM, Cabela's, Bandit Lures, Southern
Pro, Tite-Loc, Hummingbird/MinnKota, and Blakemore Lures. He and his partner
Ronnie have their own line of products such as Capps and Coleman poles, minnow
rigs by BnM, Glow Tubes by Southern Pro, Roadrunner by Blakemore,  Glow
crank baits by Bandit and Rod systems by Tite-loc. Steve has been married 24
years to Donna. They have 2 boys, Zac, and Chase. He has been employed for 30
years with the TN Department of corrections and is addicted to the outdoors.
